What is a health & Well-being coach?

A Health and Well-being coach acts as a supportive guide, mentor, motivator, and educator. The idea of a health coach is to help transform your health and lifestyle by setting goals and adopting sustainable changes that promote a healthier and happier life. Research shows that Health and Wellbeing Coaching is an effective intervention for people experiencing a range of long term conditions, including chronic pain, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and stress/low mood. I also support you with weight management, diet, increasing your activity levels and improving your sleep hygiene. By offering you the tools and education needed to manage your ongoing physical and mental health conditions, it is possible to unlock your full potential to live a healthier and more fulfilling life.

What happens during a coaching session?

To help you achieve optimum health and well-being I work 1-1 with you to give you the tools, space and support to clarify your health goals, building hope and confidence to achieve them. With coaching we will work to shift deep-seated blocks and manage self-sabotage to make the sustainable lifestyle changes that create better health and well-being. This will help you to better understand your diagnosis and treatment plan, optimise your diet and lifestyle while living and managing chronic illness or disease. I will work alongside you to bring out your own skills and ability, as well as support you to build knowledge, confidence and develop resilience.

Here is an example of some of the things we will focus on during your coaching session:

1. Personalised Guidance: I take a personalised and client-centred approach, taking time to understand your individual health journey and working closely with you to identify your specific goals, challenges, and motivations.

2. Goal Setting and Action Planning: Together we will define clear and achievable health goals. Whether it’s weight management, stress reduction, improved nutrition, increasing physical activity, or managing chronic conditions, we will collaboratively create action plans to facilitate progress towards these goals.

3. Behaviour Change: One of the key roles of a Health and Wellbeing Coach is to facilitate behaviour change. I employ evidence-based techniques such as motivational interviewing, positive reinforcement, and goal tracking to support you in adopting healthier habits and letting go of unhealthy ones.

4. Education and Empowerment: I will endeavour to provide you with the necessary health information, empowering you to make informed decisions about your well-being. Through education, we can work towards a deeper understanding of the factors that influence your health, enabling you to take control of your own health choices.

5. Accountability and Support: I will serve as an accountability partner throughout your journey. Providing consistent support, encouragement, and feedback, keeping you motivated and on track to achieve your desired outcomes.
